CATHAL MACCARTHY

Cathal qualified as a Solicitor in 1976 and was a Partner in a legal firm up to September 1992 when he joined Irish Permanent Building Society (IPBS) as Secretary and Chief Legal Officer. He had responsibility for all legal aspects of the conversion of IPBS to Irish Permanent plc, the merger with Irish Life plc, the acquisition of Trustee Savings Bank and the sale of Irish Life to the Minister for Finance. Cathal joined First Citizen in October 2013, following his retirement from permanent tsb plc.
